First off, You are going to need a couple programs
Firefox
Foxy Proxy
I also recommend getting
Google Chrome
Download and install both Firefox and Foxy Proxy.
If you are already using Firefox. Fire it up and press Cltrl+Shift+Del including cookes but not saved passwords is not necessary.
Now you are going to need a Proxy for Foxy Proxy. Get one from
here
You might have to try a few till you find one that works but I have had best luck with ones that end in Port 3128
In Firefox go to Tools->Foxy Proxy->Options->
Click on Add New Proxy
You can put the name as anything
Click on the Proxy Details tab
Than click on Manual Proxy
The host name is (ie. 92.51.145.217 Port: 3128) put what ever proxy you got off the list
After that close out
Now go back up to Tools->Foxy Proxy->Use Proxy 92.51.145.217 for all URLS
Go to
here
Click on the
Cardinals game
MLB.TV basic feed
Now this might be going slow and you might have to try to reload it a couple times but eventually it will pass the Blackout check. Put in your login info. Let the video feed actually start. As soon as it starts going back up to Tools->Foxy Proxy-> Completely Disable FoxyProxy
That is it. It should work now. I also recommend using Google Chrome or IE while using MLB.tv sometimes using Firefox while broadcasting can mess things up. It is just another precaution but not entirely necessary.
P.S
If the Proxy ever stops working just get a new one.
It works.
Do it.

Disabling
FoxyProxy sometimes jacks up the feed. If you’re using a proxy that allows you to watch at a decent quality, then don’t bother disabling it.
spants - June 6, 2009
Yeah...
I always disable it as soon as I clear the blackout check.
LukeMP1186 - June 6, 2009
I could see that But...
A lot of the free proxies can’t handle video streaming. Really hit or miss.
FlimtotheFlam - June 6, 2009
I've had success
and failures with both methods. Last two or three proxies have lasted forever and been really good.
spants - June 6, 2009
So overall everything has been working good for ya?
Like I told Luke, I don’t even use MLB.tv. I did it just to prove that it could be done.
FlimtotheFlam - June 6, 2009
It's been
fan-fucking-tastic, thank you very much.
spants - June 6, 2009
I tried using a Proxy
But it wouldn’t work because it couldn’t figure out where I was.
What I did was change my billing address and then called them and told them I lived somewhere else. I live in Northern Iowa so I told them that I actually lived in MN, which allows Cards games, and that the reason I was getting blacked out was because my IP from my internet provider was actually located in Iowa. So the person just overrode the IP address to allow me to watch the game. Of course this would only work if you were close to a location that doesn’t blackout Cards games.

Proxies can be tricky
That is why Foxy Proxy works so well and is simple
FlimtotheFlam - June 6, 2009
I tried another
method before FoxyProxy. FoxyProxy is awesome.
spants - June 6, 2009
Would it get around the blackout in Japan? MLB has a crappy contract with Japan NOT to televise games.
akaitori - June 7, 2009
I wouldn't see why not
FlimtotheFlam - June 7, 2009
I would think so...
I used it yesterday to get around the national blackouts for one of the FOX games. I had only used it to avoid regional blackouts up until then. It worked fine…
LukeMP1186 - June 7, 2009
FlimtotheFlam...
why do you suggest downloading Google Chrome?
LukeMP1186 - June 7, 2009
And I quote:
" I also recommend using Google Chrome or IE while using MLB.tv sometimes using Firefox while broadcasting can mess things up. It is just another precaution but not entirely necessary."
spants - June 7, 2009
Ahhh...
I didn’t make it that far…
LukeMP1186 - June 7, 2009
Just move to england
job done.
Felonius_Monk - June 7, 2009
Media Error
I keep getting either a Media Error or it never actually loads. What can I do. I wanna watch the FOX broadcast today.
cowcards - June 13, 2009
Try a new proxy.
Make sure to clear your cache and cookies.
spants - June 13, 2009
yea
I got it right before you posted. This is great.
cowcards - June 13, 2009
I hate to ask
But if this helped you could you rec this fanpost cause it is about to fall off the main page. I doubt I will check it anymore and won’t be able to answer any questions
FlimtotheFlam - June 13, 2009
I did rec
I was trying to keep it up there too.
cowcards - June 13, 2009
Nevermind
Just needed a different proxy.
cowcards - June 13, 2009

but i got it!

For those who are having problems with proxies after they are disabled
Are you just using Firefox? Or Chome on the side for browsing also?
FlimtotheFlam - June 14, 2009
I'm using
both.
spants - June 14, 2009
More specifically,
I’m using Iron.
spants - June 15, 2009
safari is my secondary browser
chrome sucks
prophetjohn - June 15, 2009
found a slightly easier way to do this
it’s pretty much the same, but
clear all you cache
click on the basic feed
wait until it prompts for your un/pw
enable foxy proxy
type your details and connect
then once it accepts, disable foxy proxy
this way you don’t have to wait 5-60 minutes for it to load to the login screen through a slow proxy
prophetjohn - June 20, 2009
it kicks me off a few seconds after I disable foxy proxy
however, I’ve found that if you set up foxyproxy to use the proxy server for mlb url patterns, you don’t have to mess with clearing cache, disabling proxy after, etc. Just set it up and forget it.
SleepyCA - June 20, 2009
that should be *mlb*
SleepyCA - June 20, 2009
Very helpful.
Thanks.
